Growth That’s a Pain in the Bum Bum

Brazil is the land of supermodels, samba, tiny bikinis… and a cultural obsession with the bum bum. Sol de Janeiro co-founder (and former Clinique Lab director) Heela Yang combined her own Korean skincare know-how with Brazilian skincare ingredients and sass to build a skin care brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The brand’s world-famous Bum Bum cream has a lush buttery texture and slight sheen that customers are obsessed with, and sales are growing faster than the company’s old site could keep up.

Shake It Baby, Shake It

Sol de Janeiro uses a large number of app integrations to tie into their marketing and analytics. Even though the brand has a small number of SKUs, their old WooCommerce site made it cumbersome to manage all those moving parts. It was a hassle making site updates, and they needed better functionality and control. It was time to shake things up.

Sol de Janeiro has a great, irreverent brand voice and a huge following of fans who love the products. The brand has grown so quickly because its global fans have loved the products from the beginning. The company needed a site that would help them connect and expand those relationships, and engage more deeply with their growing customers.

The existing design was working well for them, so we kept it consistent on their new Shopify platform. A new, easy backend centralizes their app integrations, helping them more easily manage the brand’s growing sales. Shopify's pre-built apps and sales channels will makes it easy for Sol de Janeiro to connect with customers as new mediums arise.
