Mahi Gold is a Massachusetts-based e-commerce brand started by a brother and sister team, Michael and Becky Gorman, and their partner, Brian Voelkel. Hailing from Cape Cod, Mahi Gold features nautically-inspired prints, born from their love for all the Americana and quaintness that one tends to find in New England’s coastal towns. With that aesthetic comes a devotion to sourcing and producing all their garments in the USA. Once a women’s clothing line specializing in dresses, Mahi Gold has begun to expand into men’s and kids wear as well.
Righting the Ship
Mahi Gold came to Growth Spark after their custom-built e-commerce solution saw them spending more time and money fixing their website than they did on growing their business. Their design was also outdated, lacking the bright and charming appeal of the brand itself. These frustrations led them to the Shopify platform, where cost-savings and access to turnkey solutions from the Shopify App Store spoke to their desire to spend more time on what they loved: selling clothes!
Growth Spark worked with our friends at Fair Folk to bring this project to fruition. Fair Folk handled the design, and we tackled the frontend and backend development. Mahi Gold wanted to work with partners that understood their desire to grow their e-commerce business. Together with Fair Folk, we were able to solve all of Mahi Gold’s struggles with their former custom-built e-commerce platform, freeing them from the headaches it provided.
