Our “How To” guides are a continuing series of articles demonstrating simple ways to implement the most commonly requested features for running a successful e-commerce business on Shopify. In this article we’ll teach you about ‘wishlists’ and how to add them to your online shop.

Example of a wishlist

Most online stores offer a wishlist feature of some kind. This is due to the fact that they not only benefit visitors, but shop owners as well. When your customers add a product to a wishlist, it instills a sense of ownership, making them more likely to purchase that item at a later time. As the shop owner, you’ll gain insights into which items are added most, or which items specific customers have added. This knowledge can help inform precise restock quantities or ensure your marketing strategies are on-target! For example, you could run a sale on your most popular wishlist items, enticing your visitors with discounts on the products you know they’re interested in purchasing!

Wishlist Apps for Shopify

Adding a wishlist app to your Shopify store offers the ability for customers to add your products to lists that they curate. These lists can then be browsed by your customers directly in your online shop. Visitors can then easily find the products they want when they’re ready to purchase, or share the list with loved ones for birthdays or other special occasions.

In this article we’ll cover some Shopify wishlist apps so you can begin offering wishlists to your customers! The Shopify App Store offers alternatives to those featured here, but we picked out some of our favorites! We’ll go over their features and the simple process of adding these apps to Shopify.

Wishlist App Logo

Our Shopify wishlist app of choice is simply called Wishlist. Wishlist offers all of the essential features for implementing wishlists into your Shopify store. It’s fully customizable, allowing you to match your shop’s theme or branding. Full customization can be difficult if you’re unfamiliar with HTML and CSS, but it’s worth the extra effort. Consistency in your shop’s design is beneficial to your customers’ shopping experience. You’ll also gain access to customer, product, and share reports, as well as a daily report, which can be sent to your inbox automatically. At the time of writing, all of this is available for just $2/month, which is a small price to pay for such a proven e-commerce tool!

WishList + Reminder

Wishlist + Reminder is another solid choice for a Shopify wishlist app. It has a similar feature set to Wishlist, and while it’s less customizable and robust, it does offer a unique feature: automated wishlist email reminders. Automated wishlist email reminders will be sent to customers when they add a product to a wishlist but don’t purchase said item. The emails are triggered to send after a set number of days, configurable within Wishlist + Reminder’s settings. The emails are customizable but only on a very basic level. Sending reminders like these can be an excellent way to improve your conversion rate!
